Here’s another record store long gone. I visited during my school days in the 70s (one couldn’t always go to Rhino and Tower). Can’t beat a record for $.99. I can still remember dancing (and dancing and dancing) to In A Gadda Da Vida (all 17 minutes of it).
My first job when I moved to LA from WI was at Sound Music Sales the wholesale distributor. I remember Bill coming in to p8ck up irders for Music Odyssey.
I worked there in 1978-79 and managed the used records. Bill was very low key and wow the used records made me, a collector, so happy.
I wrote the radio jingle for Steve Gabor around 1969-70.
(to the music of California here we come)
Music Odyssey here we come, Records and tapes for everyone. On Wilshire, near Bundy, we’re in the heart of West LA, we’re open on Sunday, so hurry in and don’t delay ….
My very first retail records gig! I remember looking at that wall and musing, “All of my favorite music is on Warner-Elektra-Atlantic records. Someday, that’s who I’m gonna work for. WEA SF offered me a short-lived jjob later in the 70’s. A dream realized!
